Be part of the National Journey for Healing and Reconciliation!
Volunteer at the TRC Alberta National Event (ABNE)

From March 27 to 30, 2014, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada will be holding its seventh and final National Event. To produce a world-class event for all attending, the TRC needs your help in filling in a number of volunteer positions from March 25 to March 30, 2014.

The TRC has a mandate to learn about what happened in the Indian residential schools and to share this truth with all Canadians. In the words of TRC Chair Justice Murray Sinclair, "my fellow Commssioners and I have made a commitment to former students that we will hear from as many of them as we are logistically and humanly able to.

The Commission hopes to guide and inspire First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples and Canadians in a process of truth, healing and renewed relationships based on mutual understanding and respect.

The Commission views reconciliation as an ongoing individual and collective process requiring participation from all those affected by the residential school experience. This includes First Nations, Inuit, and Métis former students, their families, communities, religious groups, former Indian residential school employees, government and the people of Canada.
