Return to TRC home

In preparation for the Atlantic National Event (ANE) in Halifax (October 26-29) the TRC will hold hearings across the Atlantic region to give Residential School Survivors the opportunity to Share their Truth:

September 8: Fredericton, NB
September 20: Goose Bay, NL
September 22: Hopedale, NL (Nunatsiavut)
October 4: Charlottetown, PEI
October 12: Shubenacadie/Indian Brook, NS
October 14: Eskasoni, NS

The purpose of the Atlantic Hearings is to inform the public about the Commission’s work and statement gathering process, and provide survivors with time to reflect and share their experiences in lead up to the TRC’s third National Event. The Hearings are a chance for Survivors, especially those who are unable to attend the ANE, to offer their statements in person to the TRC Commissioners.

The Atlantic Hearings and the upcoming ANE are also unique opportunities for all Atlantic Canadians, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to learn more about and bear witness to the legacy of the Residential School system.

Venues and times have yet to be determined and will be posted here as soon as they are confirmed.
