Troubleshooting Electrical Problems

This session will look at a step by step system to Troubleshoot Electrical Problems.  The steps are:  1.  The Rules of Troubleshootinng; 2.  The Tools we need; 3.  Three simple Steps; 4.  Read Schematics; 5.  Alternator and 6.  Servicing Non-battery Ignition Systems.

Eddie Konrad graduated in 1957 from the Austrian College of Trade and Economy in Vienna with diplomas in electronics and mechanics.  He then flew as helicopter pilot in the Austrian Air Force for six years.  For 23 years he worked as the Head Mechanic of the Ladies Golf Club of Toronto. In 1992 Konrad became director of the Golf Equipment Technicians Association of Canada and held that title until GETAC merged with the CGSA (Canadian Golf Superintendents Association) in 2004. For 12 years he edited the REEL-GRIND a magazine for Equipment Technicians, and now writes the Mechanic’s Corner for the CGSA in the GreenMaster. Presently Konrad is a contract professor at Seneca College in Ontario teaching Reel Technology and holding seminars for Golf Associations from coast to coast in Canada.


Hydraulic Safety

This session will look at the safety aspects of dealing with hydraulic systems.  Taking into consideration that hydraulic systems store fluid under high pressure making there three kinds of hazards exist: burns from the hot, high pressure spray of fluid; bruises, cuts or abrasions from flailing hydraulic lines; and injection of fluid into the skin.

Forum for Equipment Technicians

This program will provide an open forum for not only Equipment Technicians but anyone who deals with turf equipment to discuss issues that they are facing in their positions or with specific equipment in a group setting.  Bring your questions and answers and be ready to participate.  You may have the answer to someone else's problem.  This session is to be moderated by Warren Wybenga.


Chain Saw Operation & Maintenance

This session will identify tips and techniques to help golf course equipment technicians safely service and maintain their chainsaws in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.  Covering; the importance of proper sharpening and maintenance, terminology and parts of the chainsaw, equipment needed, daily cleaning procedures and major cleaning and service procedures.

Prior to joining Toro’s International Division, Greg held a variety of positions within the US commercial golf business for the Reelmaster, Multi Pro, Sand Pro and Greensmaster product lines. He has a B.S. degree in Engineering from North Dakota State University and MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management and a Certified Marketing Executive (CME) credential from Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI).
